The general meeting for the academic year 2019-2020 was began by the warm greetings from respected Rector, Dr. Saleh Al Shamrani and respected Board of Trustees Chairman, Prof. Abdullah Al Shammery.
Prof. Al Shammery also extend his deep appreciation towards the Human Resources (HR) department and Accounting department for their great efforts in which he considered them as heart of the company.
It was followed by awarding the plaque of recognition to Mr. Muhana Al Muhana, Mr. Mohammed Al Qahtani and Dr. Kamal Al Shikh for their years of service in the institution, from its former title as Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy (RCsDP) until its transition to Riyadh Elm University (REU).
Then, Rector Saleh introduced and welcomed the new faculties. First, for the male who are Dr. Abdullah Alsenani, Dr. Baraa Abdulrahman, Dr. Ahmad Assari, Dr. Abdulrahman Alajaji, and Dr. Omar Al Shargi. And for the female are Dr. Nada Tashkandi, Ms. Sara Alotaibi, Dr. Suha Al-Mutlaq, Dr. Amira Aljohary and Dr. Maha Nahass.
After these things, Dr. Mohammed Al Rafee, Dean of College of and Dentistry, introduced the new program which is called One-Year Postgraduate Clinical Attachment. He explained that the objective of the program is to prepare the Saudi local dentists to increase their chances to be accepted at the postgraduate in Saudi to abroad. He added, they will be working almost similar to the demonstrators but the difference is that they will be assigned by the deanship office to their area of interest where they will be involved in the clinical and laboratory activities as contribution to their teaching. By then, he encouraged other faculties to guide them for more reading and assignment and supervise as well during their teaching in order to increase their skill and knowledge. The BOT Chairman has given additional valuable insights in support.
Dr. Kais Al Obaidy, Dean, College of Pharmacy was also given the chance to give his comments and valuable information regarding his department, followed by Dr. Tahani Rahbeni as Dean in the College of Nursing and Dr. May Alkhudhairy in the College of Allied Medical Sciences. Moreover, Prof. Mohammad Al Omari gave as well updates of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center and Dr. Sultan Bin Alrimal and Dr. Sarah Mubaraki for the Admission and Registration Department.
Dr. Mansour Assery, the Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Students and Scientific Research, cited updates of the postgrads’ and mater students’ progress in accordance to the Saudi Board in the whole kingdom which serve as achievement for the university.
At the latter part, discussion and raising of questions were opened to the faculty and other colleagues. One has only extended his gratitude to all especially the leaders for showing inspiration. After that, Dr. Deema Al Shammery was asked to explain the program about dental assistant in which the curriculum was made by the Saudi Health Council and as a recognition, the said training program will be done in REU. She delivered it clearly and knowledgeably.
